Greens
Listed below are the greens I have for sale. They are $3 each.
I am selling brassicas now as with our Wisconsin growing season planting these earlier should result in a bigger harvest. Ever planted your cabbage or collards and have them bolt from the heat? They LOVE the colder weather!
I usually plant a LOT of kale, and I mean a LOT. I end up dehydrating a variety of greens for greens powders (have you seen how EXPENSIVE they are?). I also put fresh greens in my smoothies every morning, put them in salads, add them to soups and freeze some.
Black Jack Kale
I LOVE kale! You can never have enough of this superfood. One cup of raw kale (20.6g) provides 7.2 calories, 0.6g of protein, 0.9g of carbohydrates, and 0.3g of fat. Kale is a great source of vitamins A, K, and C, as well as potassium and calcium. And this crop will be there for you long after all the other plants in your garden are done. You can do so much with kale. I use them in my smoothies and salads. I will freeze some for use in smoothies in the winter and dehydrate them with other greens for homemade greens powder. An extremely hardy and bolt-resistant variety producing the deep green (almost black!) savoyed leaves we have come to love in a kale plant. This is a hybrid plant from lacinato kale (dinosaur kale) so you can not save the seeds. These plants will reach 24-30″ tall with narrow, uniform, erect plants.
Blue Curled Scotch Kale
A truly astounding superfood, Blue Curled Scotch kale is packed with health promoting properties, including a range of antioxidants. Studies have shown kale to have anti-inflammatory properties, as well potential ability to aid in cancer prevention. In a side-by-side study of different kale varieties, curled kales were shown to have the highest concentration of glucosinolates, which studies have shown to have anti-cancer properties. Aside from an incredible host of health benefits, Blue Curled Scotch kale has a pleasant sweet and nutty kale flavor, and is perfect for kale chips. 55 days, space plants 8′.
Can be planted 2-4 weeks before last frost date.
Dazzling Blue Kale
This smoky blue lacinato type kale has become a favorite of gardeners and market farmers. Bred by Hank Keogh of Avoca Farms, Dazzling Blue kale is considered a prime example of the renaissance in modern open-source plant breeding. It boasts unparalleled cold hardiness and fantastic purple and blue leaves. 80 days, space plants 8″. Full sun but can tolerate partial shade.
Can be planted 2-4 weeks before last frost date.
Lacinato (Dinosaur) Kale
An heirloom variety with 3″ wide blue-green leaves. The leaves reach up to 18″ long and are healthy and delicious. The plant is very cold tolerant and a prolific producer. Leaves become more tender and flavorful after a hard frost. Tastes great when steamed or stir-fried, versatile enough for juicing. Replace these kale leaves with traditional lettuce wraps for a crunchier wrap, make sure to massage the leaves in lemon juice before serving for the best nutrients and flavor! Excellent Source Of Vitamins C and A, Phytonutrients, Iron, and Calcium. 30-60 days, space plants 8″.
Can be planted 2-4 weeks before last frost date.
Black Magic Kale
Think Lacinato Kale, but with a deeper color and milder flavor! This new favorite is loved for its heartiness as it thrives in both spring and warmer weather; its leaves are abundant and will reappear again and again! Enjoy cooked, raw or juiced! 30-60 days, space plants 8″.
Can be planted 2-4 weeks before last frost date.
Premier Kale
A large leaf variety of kale. This is excellent for making wraps, and is also great for juicing, salads, and can be used to make kale chips. It is not too crinkly or narrow like other varieties making for a very delicious and useful vegetable. A cross between kale and collards is one of the best varieties to grow. Excellent Source Of Vitamin C, K, Iron, and Fiber. 30-60 days, space plants 8″.
Can be planted 2-4 weeks before last frost date.

Its sweet, delicious flavor is ideal for sauteing, baking, or eating fresh. This variety grows up to 32″ tall. Sweetest when harvested in cooler weather, which makes this perfect for a spring or fall growing season. 68 days, space plants 8″.
